Sorry! These Are MY Favourite Canadian Tunes

Happy Canada Day! In celebration, I've put together a list of my favourite songs by Canadian artists (in no particular order).

Our Lady Peace - 4 am

Our Lady Peace has always been my friend Angela's favourite band so every time I hear one of their songs (especially 'Superman's Dead') I think of her. I've always been more of a fan of the band's mellower songs and '4 am' is my favourite.

Sloan - Everything You've Done Wrong

Sloan is definitely one of my favourite Canadian bands. I saw them live for the first time about a year ago at a free concert at Yonge & Dundas Square as part of Canadian Music Week and it was awesome. 'Everything You've Done Wrong' has been my favourite Sloan song since the 8th grade.

Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know

Alanis Morissette is definitely one of the best female artists of the 90s and she just so happens to be from Ottawa. I was trying to decide if there are any other Alanis songs that I like more, but 'You Oughta Know' is just awesome.

Tragically Hip - Wheat Kings

When Gord Downie was diagnosed with brain cancer back in 2016 and Tragically Hip announced their farewell tour, Sean and I had to go. Every Canadian seems to have their favourite Hip song. Mine is 'Wheat Kings'.

Sarah McLachlan - The Path of Thorns

Sarah McLachlan will always have a special place in my heart because the first concert I ever went to (with my brother while he lived in Houston, Texas) was Lilith Fair, the all female music festival she started in the late 90s. It also reminds me of summers at Easter Seals Camp. Even though I like a lot of Sarah McLachlan's songs, 'the Path of Thorns' is my favourite.
