My recent post about attending summer camp as a kid made me think about how certain songs (good songs, not like stereotypical camp songs like 'Kumbaya') brings back memories of my time at Blue Mountain Easter Seals Camp.
Mr. Big - To Be With You
This one is quite bad but this song was huge during my first summer of camp in 1991 and was played at the end of session banquet/dance.
Madonna - Material Girl
Madonna was always played in my cabins and performed at many camp talent shows.
Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star
We always seemed to play A LOT of 80s tunes at camp. One summer 'Video Killed the Radio Star' was played on repeat during the whole session.
Hanson - MMMBop
One summer this terrible song was played on repeat every morning until all of the campers in my cabin were awake and ready to start the day.
Jewel - You Were Meant For Me
'Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul' and Jewel's debut album went hand in hand most nights at camp when I was a teenager.
Dave Matthews Band - Crash Into Me
This song brings back memories of my last summer at camp.
Oasis - Wonderwall
My love for Oasis started at camp.
Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back
This classic became a camp staple. Gotta love song about asses.
Hole - Violet
One summer at camp we made a music video in our cabin to this song. We ended up trashing our cabin and at one point I got pelted in the head with a pillow.
Sarah McLachlan - Building A Mystery
Sarah McLachlan was hands down a cabin favourite for a long time at camp and this song was played at nauseum.
